OFFICIAL INFO:
1) What It's LikeSmall town near Inverness. There's not much to stop for but it's pretty and artsy. We find ourselves enjoying the drive through on way to Ft.Cooper and Cooter pond up the road. 2) AmenitiesIf Floral City doesn't have what you want head the short drive up to Inverness. 3) DirectionsWe usually enter I75 to FL-48 and turn left at the T-intersection. But it's small enough that there's no wrong way. 4) Time RequirementsYou might spend an hour or two if you were determined. ExperienceWe usually come in by taking I75 to FL-48. That drive is rural and pretty interesting. It crosses the Withlacoochie river (as does seemingly every highway in central Florida) Once it turns into Orange avenue you go downhill into a tunnel of live oaks that's quite pretty. On the left there's a museum and some historical homes. A gift shop. A gas station to the left at the light. Go right and there's a retro chic orange grove stand/store (winter is the season for that). Also across the street at the light is an art gallery that's an enjoyable stop. Eventually it starts turning into Inverness. Ft.Cooper is a great State Park nearby on that road. |
