OFFICIAL INFO:

1) What It's Like

Lake with weird garbage around it, lots of dead trees in it. Neighborhood was part off putting, part nice.

2) Kinds of Birds

Herons/Egrets. Supposed to be a big hot spot but we didn't feel the heat.

3) Wildlife

It's a neighborhood so doubtful.

4) Amenities

A garbage strewn parking area.

5) Dear Ranger

Good luck with the dumping problem.

6) Time Requirements

5 minutes is ample. The road in had more birds than this spot.

Experience

This is one of the places we bring up as a joke when we ask "where do we want to go this weekend". It's supposed to be a great birding spot - it has some birds but it's just not that remarkable. Also it's got a bad vibe to it. Part of the bad vibe is the trash, the other bad vibe is the aggressively  - well I can't say for sure the couple trailers with lots of stickers and flags was intending to be white supremacist but if you had this stuff on a jacket at a rally you'd be welcome. Most of the neighborhood was nice - waving people etc. The lake itself - when we pull in the first thing we see is a permanent sign saying "no dumping". I'm guessing there is an ongoing problem here. Then as we walk up the shore we see a sweet SAAB car stereo and misc garbage. There are lots of dead trees in the water - since it's so localized I'm guessing the ground has subsided so a sink hole around here at some point? Saw the same thing at Paynes Prairie but there the water drains out into the aquifer and that gets plugged up periodically like after hurricane Irma. Looking the place over well with binoculars we didn't see much. Definitely some egrets/herons around but that was it.

There were some birds on the road as we approached the neighborhood.
