OFFICIAL INFO:
1) What It's LikeIt shows up as a birding spot - specifically for ducks - but it's closed to public access. I looked and looked and looked online to find out if it was open since they had some ceremony etc - no shortage of web pages - but nobody says "hey - closed". Unless it goes on behind where I'm seeing - it's just a pond that might have ducks. As far as you are concerned from where you can see at the gate - that is all it is. 2) Kinds of BirdsDucks and wading birds. 3) WildlifeCockroach bay a few miles away has pigs, turtles, snakes so likely here as well. 4) AmenitiesGet out sign and lots and lots of dumped sofas and toilets. 5) DirectionsSee GPS coordinates on map - there are two gates on the north side of the road with pretty clear white signs. Anywhere you can see in is the right place. 6) Dear RangerFor the love of god - please just advertise that it's closed online 1/2 of 1 percent as much as you spend on press conferences about creating this place years ago. It's not a quick drive to get here for anyone. 7) Time RequirementsAs long as you want to sit and stare in the distance at a pond while leaning on your car. ExperienceHeard there were ducks here - came and it's closed off. With a long zoom you might spot and ID some but I didn't see much. Cockroach bay is not far and it always has some ducks and things to see. This is a place to peek at if you didn't get your fill there. |
