OFFICIAL INFO:

1) What It's Like

A municipal park (a field really) that (on our one visit) had pretty great birding (based on one visit). It is MISERABLE to get here - driving in Brandon, particularly Bloomingdale always reminds me of how casinos are designed to keep you there.

2) Kinds of Birds

We saw barred owl, bluebirds, and some good warblers.

3) Wildlife

Horses next door and suburban wildlife.

4) Amenities

Bathrooms, field, shelter, play area.

5) Directions

Head down Stearns park road to the end - you pass through residential neighborhood. It's pretty obvious on right.

6) Time Requirements

There are enough trees that you could spend 30-40 minutes closely paying attention to everything or just stop for 5. It is just a big field though.

Experience

This little park had a reputation for birding. We pull up and a local had his camera out and mentioned some highlights. Just looked around trees and power lines. Saw an owl, bluebirds, warblers. I hesitate to say it's worth going out of your way to and the traffic in Brandon is so miserable we haven't been back - but - the birding was pretty impressive.
