Town: Brooksville, FL

Brooksville has quite a few birding spots, some interesting characters, some charm, and a couple descent restaurants. If you just wanted to see towns with a bit of charm it's a destination but mostly I'd say it might be worth driving through for lunch if you're at the different area hiking and birding spots. They have Walmarts and such at the edges but it's generally small enough that everything seems locally owned and not dominated by national corporations (McDonalds etc).
