OFFICIAL INFO:

1) What It's Like

Not of interest to everyone but it's the spot where a black town was attacked by wacko whites.

2) Kinds of Birds

Maybe you'll see hawks or forest birds - wasn't really a birding hot spot.

3) Wildlife

That road is pretty remote and the light pollution is low - a nice place to stop and look at the stars and be scared by what's running right at us from the forest!

4) Amenities

Long ways from gas stations or anything else.

5) Directions

Follow GPS coordinates.

6) Time Requirements

You stop and think about history - depends on the individual. There's nothing to see really though.

Experience

This is on the way to Cedar Key and we were curious if anything was left of the town - such a sad and lonely bit of history. The GPS coordinates we found - at first we ended up in the parking lot for the I think it was a firestation. Then we reooriented and it was actually just in some trees along a dirt somewhat residential rural road. So - just stick with the place where they put the Florida History marker sign. Also please shout out if anyone can explain why we keep finding rubber gloves on the roadside everywhere we go - some on ground here.
