1) What It's Like

Quiet, shaded, varied, interesting forest. Sinkholes so varied altitude. Pleasant walk and lots of birds for an enclosed forest.

2) Kinds of Birds

Forest dwellers, song birds. Thrushes, woodpeckers, cardinals, wrens.

3) Wildlife

Tick warning so assume deer but didn't see any.

4) Amenities

Nice trailhead, maybe a portapotty but that's it. Bridges over creeks. Be more careful than usual about getting lost on a longer trail especialy across street on north side.

5) Directions

Head out from Gainesville / Devil's Millhopper.

6) Time Requirements

This look can be done in 40-60 minutes but you can spend days in this park.

Experience

Sinkholes so altitude changes.

Many more trails/miles to this forest.

Lots of different trees.

Quiet.

Heard many birds, seen more than you might expect.

Didn't want to leave, wanted to explore more.

Didn't feel like florida so much.
