1) What It's Like

It's a pretty nice small immersive small pine forest abutting mangrove swamp that they managed to preserve.

2) Kinds of Birds

Generally forest birds and some raptors.

3) Wildlife

It feels like a forest but because it's isolated I doubt you'll get much more than racoons here.

4) Amenities

Picnic areas, bathrooms, boardwalk

5) Dear Ranger

Feels like a nice forested park for such an unlikely location.

6) Time Requirements

100 acres so you could spend a few hours here. At the same time you're in the trees and fresh are right away so you don't need to invest alot of time.

Experience

If you click the map link you can see there are several stops around here. There's a reputation for this area to have a few odd birds like loons. We didn't have much sucess finding oddball birds but in general most sites had more birds than you'd think ought to be there. Warblers passing through - that kind of thing. The whole area is kind of difficult to get to and has a weird vibe to it demographicly. Plenty of nice people but a bit of a trip to the DMV feel to it as well.
