1) What It's Like

It's a very short trail and a not terribly long boardwalk through cypress swamp/forest along a bit of an offshoot of the hillsborough river.

2) Kinds of Birds

You might see water birds though I wouldn't expect a lot. I've seen swallow tailed kites on the river but that is probably a fluke.

3) Wildlife

Aligators certainly possible but not plentiful. I wouldn't expect much else - there's not much land between river and highway.

4) Amenities

I don't recall if there was a bathroom here. Kayak launch and rentals.

5) Directions

Take Fowler Ave exit from I75 and go east.

6) Time Requirements

Definitely less than half an hour.

Experience

Pull in and on you see the boat/kayak launch to the left of the kayak rental place. Left of that is a very short trail that is pretty that goes along the launch canal area. On the right side is the boardwalk that meanders a bit through cypress tress mostly over water. It reaches what looks like the Hillsborough River, but I think it's just a little offshoot of it, and a nice view. I've seen swallow tailed kites dipping down around here.
